We are passionate about bikes, cycling, mountains and open spaces.
And our business reflects our personalities.
We have a huge work ethic, our attention to detail is mad but that's who we are, it's what we do.
20 years ago we embarked on a new life in France and ended up in a Gothic presbytery in Cravant, a medieval village in Burgundy by the River Yonne. Our workshop is known locally as the bike magician's emporium.
Keith is a retired Royal Marine from Hampshire and Judith had her own photography business in Dorset, England. We arrived in the French Alps in 1996 to ski, to cook and to sample the life in a country that had long been our dream.
Winter skiing became summer cycling, growing into the beginnings of a business relationship with the holiday company Headwater Holidays and our education in the bike world began.
Cycling became a new passion for Keith, first trying his hand at local 'cyclotourisme' events and then leading on to eleven years of participation in the Etape du Tour in the French Alps and the Pyrenées.
As Vélos 89 expanded, our son Chris joined the business and he is now based at his own workshop in the Haut-Rhin, Alsace. Together we assemble bikes and continue to travel Europe each winter, maintaining the bikes of Headwater Holidays. And so the work continues, still refining, still improving, still learning. A hands-on work in progress.
